Disability Pride Awareness Walk

Calling all Disability Advocates and Allies: Attend, share experiences, and listen to the struggles, triumphs, and stories.

Date of the Event: July 31, 2025, Thursday

  • Location: 99 Bottles

    1445 2nd St, Sarasota, FL 34236

This walk celebrates Disability Pride Month and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), signed into law on July 26, 1990. Although the ADA was a historic milestone, the disability rights movement keeps growing.

Disability encompasses visible and invisible differences, including physical, developmental, mental health, and cognitive conditions. Every person deserves recognition and inclusion.

Let’s Do Better

Every person is worthy. Everyone should have the opportunity to love, work or just be. Uplift those who have disabilities.

  • Believe Them: They know their condition, mind or body more then anyone else. They know their needs, limitations and capabilities.

  • Gain Knowledge on Different Disabilities: Do your research. You can even ask the person about their disability POLITELY. Have the willingness to learn.

  • Support in anyway: Speak up when there’s ableism. Shut down ableist jokes and beliefs. You can start with family, friends or coworkers.
